Where was the Easy Bake Oven on Easy Bake Battle?

When we heard there was going to be a cooking competition revolving around the Easy Bake Oven we were intrigued. And now Easy Bake Battle is here.

But just because Easy Bake Battle has arrived on Netflix, that doesn’t mean that they brought the classic mini oven we all know and love with it. Unlike what we were hoping (and maybe even expecting) to see, the idea of the Easy Bake Oven was given a makeover in order to make things easier for the competitors.

Hosted by Queer Eye’s Antoni Porowski, the series is a bubbly competition that starts with three cooks before a first round cooking challenge that actually sees one competitor eliminated before they actually get the the Easy Bake Oven portion of the show. And then in the second round, the cooks have to use the show’s version of an Easy Bake Oven. Too bad it is a full size oven that has doors designed to look like the iconic mini oven.

Honestly, we were hoping for a cooking competition where the drama came from having to create a full on meal with an actual Easy Bake Oven. Instead, we got what could have been almost any cooking competition, but maybe with a small twist (the fact that the oven can only be used for a short time during a set time in the cook).

The fact that they teased us with Easy Bake Ovens in the kitchen but never actually broke them out for a single challenge was pretty depressing.

We enjoyed the show over all, especially with the challenge where the cooks could only use heating elements they may find in a hotel room, but when you tease us with an Easy Bake Oven as a theme for your competition, we want a real Easy Bake Oven to be one of the mandatory cooking tools.

Hopefully if the series gets a second season, we will either get to see Antoni Porowski actually cooking with an Easy Bake Oven or the competitors will at some point. But we want to know what you thought of the series.
