Great British Baking Show was back for episode 6 and it was Halloween Week! This was the first time they did this theme which is shocking considering they have a vampire as one of their hosts. But the spookiness wasn’t what created the drama this week. It was the s’mores.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s start with the Signature Challenge. This week, they had to make apple cakes. It seems pretty simple but the hard part was actually making the apple flavor come out. There were quite a few cakes that Paul and Prue said didn’t really taste like apples. They weren’t bad. Just not apple-y enough.

That being said, both Maxy and Syabira received handshakes for their cakes. Syabira’s cake was witch-themed and Maxy’s was simply gorgeous.

On to the Technical Challenge. This is when things went wrong. Paul tasked the bakers with making s’mores. Easy enough, right? WRONG. Paul’s idea of s’mores was so upsetting. Digestive biscuits? Chocolate that isn’t melty or messy? Marshmallows that aren’t gooey, slightly burnt, and also messy? That is not a s’more, Paul Hollywood! Who told you s’mores should be like this?

S’mores are supposed gooey and a bit of a mess. These were way too perfect. But according to Paul and Prue’s standards, Syabira came out on top for this challenge.

Finally, the Showstopper Challenge! The bakers had to make hanging lanterns with a Halloween theme and they had to be filled with sweet treats on the inside. Considering their creations had to hang, this was definitely not an easy task and that showed in the final results.

But some were truly amazing. Sandro’s and Syabira’s were particularly good and Syabira got the Star Baker title this week!

Unfortunately, some were not so good. Maxy’s kind of fell apart at the end and Dawn’s was a bit of a mess. And because of that, Dawn was the one to leave the tent this week.

Next week, it’s Custard Week. Hopefully, the bakers don’t end up with scrambled eggs.
