Great British Baking Show season 13 ended with a bang. The finale became available to stream in the US on Friday, Nov 18, 2022 on Netflix and the bakers were given what seemed like impossible tasks for their three final challenges.

Abdul, Sandro, and Syabira started off the episode by making a picnic feast. They had to make six finger sandwiches, six decorated mini-cakes, and six vegetarian mini-pies and they had to use seasonal ingredients from the UK.

This was a wild challenge. It was more of a Showstopper than it was a Signature. And as Sandro is known to do, he made it even harder for himself by making tarts and cookies too. I may or may not have been screaming at the TV telling him he didn’t need to do so much!

The final results were pretty even overall. The judges liked at least a few things in each of the bakers’ picnic feasts.

On to the Technical. The bakers were tasked with making summer pudding bombs. Paul Hollywood provided the recipe but, of course, left out the fact that they needed to boil the gelatin. While Syabira and Abdul knew this, Sandro didn’t and it showed in his final result. Abdul was the only one who ended up with a bomb that wasn’t falling into a puddle and that’s why he received the top spot.

Finally, the final Showstopper. The final three bakers had to make a spectacular edible creation that was a salute to the planet Earth. Sandro made a cake that was a tribute to every part of the Earth, Syabira made an orangutang cake, and Adbul made a tribute to the honey bee.

They were all extraordinary but they also all had some issues with construction, neatness, and a few flavors.  When it came to who was going to win, it seemed like a toss-up between Abdul and Syabira. Sandro just made a few too many mistakes this week.

But who won? It was Syabira! She really excelled at so many things, especially in the last couple of weeks. She could do no wrong.
