Holiday Baking Championship: Gingerbread Showdown was back with episode 4 and this week, it was all about holiday parades. The bakers were tasked with making gingerbread showpieces that looked just like a holiday parade you might see in your town or on TV.
The baker teams consisted of Fronshea and Brandi, Elizabeth and Jennifer, and Beth and Shane. Fronshea and Brandi made a holiday parade with a hot air balloon, Elizabeth and Jennifer made a small-town Kentucky gingerbread parade, and Beth and Shane made a very busy gingerbread parade with Santa in his sleigh on top of the buildings.
But while the final pieces looked very impressive, the road to get there was panic-inducing. Watching this episode gave me so much anxiety and that mostly had to do with Fronshea and Brandi’s hot air balloon.
Fronshea was putting it all together and judge and host Carla Hall was talking to her about what she was doing. It seemed to be going fine. The balloon came together and it was standing. That is until Fronshea and Carla walked away. Then it fell over and fell apart! Fellow judges Kalen Allen and Stephanie Boswell literally gasped when it occurred and who can blame them?
This week’s Holiday Baking Championship: Gingerbread Showdown was a panic attack
Beyond that, Beth and Shane forgot to pack some of their gingerbread pieces so they had to improvise and Elizabeth and Jennifer’s icing kept peeling off their gingerbread.
There was also a twist in this episode where the bakers had to make a hot chocolate-inspired dessert that had to be incorporated into their gingerbread display. Fronshea and Brandi made a chocolate brownie cookie with a caramel glaze, Beth and Shane made a toffee brownie, and Jennifer and Elizabeth made a hot cocoa peppermint macron.
The person who made the judges’ favorite dessert would get $1000 worth of kitchenware and on this episode, that was Fronshea and Brandi! They really loved the brownie cookie.
But who came out on top overall? That was Elizabeth and Jennifer! Their gingerbread holiday parade was ridiculously cute and all the buildings were very detailed. They went home with $10,000. Not bad for 10 hours’ worth of work.
Next week, three new teams of bakers will have to create gingerbread masterpieces based on the Nutcracker ballet and have to create a dessert that features nuts.
