Do you know someone who loves making cocktails at home? Or maybe you want to expand your mixology skills but don’t know where to start? Shaker & Spoon is a cocktail subscription box that is a unique gift idea for the cocktail lovers on your holiday giving list. Maybe it is even a gift you give yourself.

Each month’s box is focused on a single spirit and includes three different cocktail recipes created by award-winning mixologists. The box also contains all of the ingredients needed to make the three different cocktails. The only item not included in the box is the actual bottle of spirits. Ingredients are provided to make four of each cocktail, so grab some friends and wow them with your new cocktail making skills!

For example, December’s box was Spiced Rum Celebration. When the weather gets colder, sometimes you need a spiced rum cocktail to warm you up. The box included three cocktail recipes that featured spiced rum including Siren Song (a fruity bubbly cocktail), Nog-atomi Plaza (an eggnog cocktail) and Mister Fahrenheit (an old fashioned). As you can see, there really is a variety in the types of cocktails.

A Shaker & Spoon subscription is a perfect gift for cocktail lovers

Before the subscription box arrives, Shaker & Spoon will send out bottle suggestions for the upcoming box. Each of the featured mixologists recommends a bottle for their recipe, although you can use whatever bottle you have on hand or any of the three suggested. For the “Spiced Rum Celebration” a recommended bottle was Chairman’s Reserve Spiced Original Rum. This rum is steeped with “Bois Bandé,” a local Caribbean bark culturally known for its aphrodisiac qualities. Then, it is aged in ex-Bourbon barrels and local spices and fruits such as cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, allspice, lemon and orange peels are added. At $26.99, it’s a reasonably priced bottle that has received many positive online reviews.

Once the box arrives at your door, you’ll possess all of the ingredients (except the alcohol) to create the cocktails. Syrups, garnish, mixer and more are included. The syrups included in the Shaker & Spoon boxes are house-made in the company’s Brooklyn-based production facility. You’ll learn new terminology from the glossary and can access how-to videos if you’re more of a visual learner. There’s even a Spotify playlist to enjoy while you sip your delicious concoctions!

Sadly, the Spiced Rum Celebration box has already sold out and new subscribers will start receiving Ginspirations, shipping the week of January 9th. Depending on how many months you subscribe or gift, the boxes will cost $50-$59 each.

I think Shaker & Spoon is such a fun and unique subscription box! It’s sure to be a hit with all the cocktail lovers in your life!
