The best Christmas foods in all 50 states
31. New Mexico
Featured Dish: Polvorones
Three Words to Describe It: Versatile, Classic, Delicious
Before doing some research on this one in particular, I had only heard of Polvorones, but never knew what one actually was. So basically the word polvorón is the Spanish word for powder. These delectable little cookies are dense, heavy, and super soft and crumbly shortbread cookies. Kind of like the more so modern-day snowball cookies. Another way people make them is as ‘Mexican Pink Sugar Cookies’. However they’re made, I’m sure they’re delicious!
Have you tried this delicious holiday treat yet? Your thoughts? Let’s hear it!
32. New York
Featured Dish: Cran-Apple Almond Pie
Three Words to Describe It: Classic, Innovative, Delicious
Of course we had to have a little fun with this one. New York’s nickname is The Big Apple, right? So why not throw some sort of apple dish or dessert in here for the state. Classic apple pies have been done to death. Everybody has some sort of Cranberry recipe. I found a delicious recipe that not only combines those two fruits, but also some super nutty almonds. It’ll elevate America’s most favorite fruit pie into a whole different dimension and universe all the same.
