3. Arizona
Featured Dish: Flan/Chocoflan
Three Words to Describe It: Innovative, Gooey, Sweet
Flan is essentially a classic caramel custard dessert. This is definitely something that everyone will love to see on the sweets table at your next holiday gathering. We chose Flan to highlight for Arizona because it is one of their most popular desserts, along side Sopapillas of course! In case you’re bored of the super traditional Flan, try some Chocoflan! According to Marcela Valladolid on the Food Network, you basically cook some flan on top of a gooey chocolate cake – wow!

4. Arkansas
Featured Dish: Possum Pie
Three Words to Describe It: Creamy, Chocolatey, Layers
Upon doing some research for some of Arkansas’ most famous flavors, I came across something called Possum Pie. At first, I did legitimately think that it took possum meat and made it into some sort of mince pies, much like you see in the UK; however, I was dead wrong, and I’m actually glad that I was. A traditional and classic Possum Pie consists of creamy chocolate and cream cheese pie layers, all brought together on top of a classic pecan shortbread crust. Yes please!
