11. Hawaii

Featured Dish: Kālua Pig

Three Words to Describe It: Meaty, Classic, Fiery

Hawaii is super famous for a lot of their different flavors and unique-to-them foods. One of the things that I most recently came across was their Kālua Pig. For big or special fancy occasions, a lot of traditional Hawaiians will participate in full pig roasts. The Kālua part of it all is in relation to how it is seasoned and cooked. Here’s how it goes: rubbed with sea salt, wrapped in ti leaves and slowly cooked using mesquite smoke, not imu. Shred this up for some delicious pork nachos!

Have you tried this delicious holiday treat yet? Your thoughts? Let’s hear it!
