When it comes to food shows, there are few guilty pleasures more guilty then Worst Cooks in America. The long-running Food Network series sees a group of culinary zeroes compete to see who can improve the most and walk away with $25,000.
Think Tournament of Champions except nobody can cook and instead of amazing culinary delights, the “chefs” try their best to not set the place on fire.
Since the show arrived in 2010, the one constant (other then the lack of skill of the contestants) has been Chef Anne Burrell. She always mentors the Red Team, or as she calls them, the Rockin’ Red Stars, and has won a dozen times in the 24 seasons Worst Cooks has been on.
The leader of the Blue Team alternates from season to season, with such chefs as Bobby Flay, Alex Guarnachelli and Alton Brown donning the blue apron in the past. And for Season 25, Worst Cooks welcomes a brand new chef to Boot Camp.
Worst Cooks in America Season 25 arrives on Food Network on January 1.
For Season 25, Chef Darnell Ferguson will be leading the Blue Team to what he hopes will be victory. As for who exactly he and Burrell will be mentoring, Worst Cooks is trying something new for the brand new season.
This season will be titled Worst Cooks in America: Viral Sensations and will welcome 12 social media and viral stars to boot camp to see if any of them can actually cook. Now, to be honest, unless you spend a lot of time on TikTok and social media, you’re going to have no clue who most of these “sensations” are. But that’s fine.
I mean, we all watch Worst Cooks in America to witness the chaos and cooking mishaps. It’s not even considered a season until something is either burned to a crisp or a pan goes up in flames. And of course, watching Ferguson react to the ineptitude of the contestants in that first episode will be priceless.
That first episode of the eight episode Worst Cooks in America: Viral Sensations will arrive on Food Network on Sunday, January 1 at 8 PM. The premiere will be a supersized 90 minutes and will air on both Food Network and Discovery Plus.
