Best X-Mas Cookie: Italian Pignoli Cookies
This is quite the traditional Italian cookie that is always on my table around the holidays. A lot of Italian desserts aren’t quite as sweet as American treats, so if you’re sweet tooth isn’t quite as strong this year, this will sure be your thing. It’s basically a hard on the outside, soft on the inside almond paste-based cookie that is studded on the top with some golden brown pine nuts!

Best X-Mas Cookie: Chocolate Cherry Cookies
If you didn’t already know this, Michigan is pretty famous for their cherries and cherry blossom festivals! In my own personal opinion, the combo of chocolate and cherries is superior to a lot of other ones of some pretty delicious sweet treats. This is a super yummy way to use up some marachino cherries and chop up those leftover chocolate (dark, milk, or white) bars as well!

Best X-Mas Cookie: Speculoos (A.K.A. Speculaas)
Brought over by Dutch and Belgian immigrants, this cookie is basically based off of what we all know and love in today’s times as cookie butter (this intrigued me in already). It’s a major Christmas tradition for those that brought this cookie into MN, and here’s what it consists of: sometimes dark brown sugar, sometimes roasted soybeans, always Biscoff-based!

Best X-Mas Cookie: Mississippi Mud Pie Cookies
I’ve always heard of Mississippi Mud Pie, but I’ve never tried it (at least I don’t think that I have). It’s a chocolate-based dessert with brownie layers, chocolate custard, chocolate crust (or vanilla if that’s what you prefer of course), usually served with ice cream. All of these ingredients and elements can literally go well with any sort of dessert, so why not put them into a cookie!

Best X-Mas Cookie: Gingerbread Sandwich Trees
This particular recipe is literally the perfect way to de-boringize a traditional gingerbread cookie. While they are super cute to make them into tiny little gingerpeople, why not try cutting them into some super cute Christmas tree shapes?! For the ornament element of it all, use some delicious and even cuter Mini M&M’s. For the cream part of the sandwich cookie, use or make frosting!
