For Burger King, it’s fair to say that the Great Chicken Sandwich Wars of the last few years didn’t go that well for the fast food giant. They have left the battlefield with lots of scars and some serious rethinking to do when it comes to how they serve chicken.
The Ch’King, their big new and improved chicken sandwich that was the subject of massive hype and advertising was pretty much dead on arrival. In less then a year the Ch’King was relegated to the scrap heap of fast food history.
It was replaced with the Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwich a few months later and, if you ask many fast food fans, no one really cared. Not when compared to the still incredibly popular Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich.
The Mexican Original Chicken Sandwich will be at Burger King starting January.
So you can forgive Burger King for thinking maybe they need to go back to basics. Their Original Chicken Sandwich has been around for decades and while it may have fallen out of favor with the youngsters, there are still plenty of folks who enjoy it.
In an effort to create some excitement around the sandwich, it has been revealed that Burger King will be releasing a new Mexican version. It will be called, appropriately enough, the Mexican Original Chicken Sandwich and will be available starting in January.
The Mexican Original Chicken Sandwich takes the classic you all know and love and adds som,e serious spice. It includes a Ghost Pepper spicy cheese sauce as well as crispy-fried jalapenos on top of a breaded chicken breast on a sesame seed bun.
The new sandwich will set you back $5.99 and will be available starting January 2023. Right now it isn’t known if this is a permanent menu item or if it will be available only for a limited time. But if we had to bet, we’d think it would be the latter.
