I’ve been a fan of Blake Lively since she starred in Gossip Girl back when the series premiered in 2007 and she’s still one busy woman. She’s raising three daughters with her husband Ryan Reynolds and is currently pregnant with their fourth child. As a business owner, she founded her company Betty Buzz in 2021. She spent the three previous years creating her line of sparkling non-alcoholic mixers and has been public about her status as a non-drinker.

In an earlier press release, Lively noted that the Betty in the company name is to honor her father’s mother and his sister, who shared the name. Where did Buzz in the name come from? Lively explained: “Because why should alcohol get all the fun? Try it. The bubbles and flavors feel like a buzz of joy.”

With Dry January in full swing, I thought it was a good time to give these mixers a try. They  contain real juice and have no artificial flavors, sweeteners or colors. The line includes five award-winning beverages including Tonic Water, Meyer Lemon Club Soda, Sparkling Grapefruit, Sparkling Lemon Lime and Ginger Beer.

Create the perfect mocktail with Betty Buzz

I sampled several of the flavors and can say that they are all delicious! They are all great on their own, which is how I enjoyed them most. The Sparkling Grapefruit was slightly tart and tasted like real grapefruit. I enjoyed this on its own and mixed with tonic water for a light and refreshing mocktail.

The Meyer Lemon Club Soda tasted like a citrusy seltzer. I mixed it with some of the Tonic Water for a little sweetness. The Ginger Beer has a natural but not overpowering ginger flavor.

All of the Betty Buzz products can also be enjoyed mixed in cocktails. Both alcoholic and zero-proof recipes are available on the company website. The Tonic Water can be mixed with gin (perhaps consider the obvious pairing with Aviation Gin, the brand her husband partly owns) for a classic Gin & Tonic. They recommend pairing the Sparkling Lemon Lime with tequila for their take on a Sparkling Margarita.

All of the mixers come in 9 ounce glass bottles which is perfect for making two cocktails. They can be purchased on the Betty Buzz website or at retailers throughout the country. The company recently debuted an Entertainment Gift Box that is available online only.  It contains four bottles of each of the five flavors so you are fully stocked!
