DiGiorno giving away free pizza for Big Game Doinks

So over the last few years DiGiorno, the makers of the immensely popular rising crust frozen pizza, have been hoping for a low scoring Super Bowl. The promotion was that if the score hit 3-14, as in Pi, at any point during the game, fans would get free pizza.

Now I get the whole “Pi as in pizza pie” connection. But if some marketing team thought fans wanted to see a Super Bowl with that score and that some free pizza, even really good pizza, would make it all better, well I don’t know what to say.

But obviously DiGiorno does because for this year’s Super Bowl the “Pi Score” promotion is no more and instead fans get the much more entertaining (and fun to say) DiGiorno Doinks.

You can sign up for the chance to win free pizza from DiGiorno starting next month.

So how will the promotion work? And what the heck is a “doink” anyway? Simple. Starting February 4 through February 12, fans can go to the website DiGiornoDoinks.com to sign up for their chance to win.

Then, during the Super Bowl on February 12, if during a field goal or extra point attempt the football “doinks” off the cross bar or either of the uprights, the lucky winners will receive a coupon for a free DiGiorno Pizza.

Yes, it’s really that simple.

According to Adam Graves, the President of the Pizza & Snacking Division at Nestlé USA, they feel it’s important to shake things up in their annual Super Bowl promotion.
