Ah Lenten Season. For the faithful, it’s a time of deep introspection and prayer. For the rest of us, especially those who enjoy seafood, it’s a time to enjoy all the new fish-based menu items that will be arriving. And one of the first out of the gate is Popeyes.

Chewboom is reporting that as in years past, Popeyes is going all in on Lenten Season and it starts with the return of their popular Flounder Fish Sandwich. The item has become a fast food staple over the years and this one is no exception.

As they did last year, the Flounder Fish Sandwich will be available in both Classic and Spicy versions. Both include a flakey flounder fillet that has been bathed in traditional Louisiana spices, covered in a crispy coating and then deep fried. It’s served on a warm brioche bun with pickles and either tartar sauce or a spicy spread.

The Flounder Fish Sandwich will only be available at Popeyes for a limited time.

But that’s not all. In addition, Popeyes will also be bringing back the $6 Shrimp Tackle Box. It includes eight butterfly shrimp that have been deep fried after being seasoned and breaded. You also get a regular side dish as will as a fresh biscuit and tartar sauce.

Additionally they’ve also added what they’re calling the Surf and Turf Box, which includes four butterfly shrimp, a pair of chicken tenders, a side and a biscuit.

All of these items will be available nationwide only for a limited time so if you’re a seafood fan and want some, don’t wait. Head to the drive-thru and get yourself hooked up.
