15. The Waffle Taco from Taco Bell

Sometime in 2014, Taco Bell was tired of just being a taco chain. So, they decided to open their restaurants and served breakfast.

All-in-all, Taco Bell’s breakfast menu wasn’t that bad, but it didn’t turn out to be the money-maker that they thought it would be, and there were some items that sunk Taco Bell’s breakfast dreams, with one of them being the Waffle Taco.

It was naturally, in a way, for Taco Bell to roll out a Waffle Taco, which was a taco shell made out of a waffle, and had sausage, egg, and cheese as the fillings. Pretty basic, right?

Well, that’s what was wrong with it.

The Waffle Taco could have been a  hit, but it was too basic, especially since Taco Bell was marketing the Waffle Taco as its flagship breakfast item, kind of like the McMuffin is to McDonald’s. When you make a certain item a centerpiece, it has to stand out above the rest, and the Waffle Taco isn’t that. It doesn’t taste bad, and when you add syrup to it, there’s a certain taste that does pop out. But, overall, the Waffle Taco was just too generic to be a centerpiece of the menu.

From what I can see on their breakfast menu, the Waffle Taco is no longer offered, and now they have a new centerpiece item, the Breakfast Crunchwrap, which is much, much better.

As I said earlier, sometimes you have to learn from your mistakes, and Taco Bell definitely learned from their mistake with the Waffle Taco.
