6. Strawberry Nachos from Denny’s

OK, so some years back, Denny’s decided to roll out a new menu just for those who were just getting out of the club and needed some drunk food.

They called it the “Late Night Menu,” and it featured some dishes that the chain wouldn’t dare serve during their daylight hours. One of the more interesting of the new Late Night Menu was the Strawberry Nachos, which would repulse a sober person, but may appeal to those who were clearly sauced.

So, I tried the Strawberry Nachos one time, and, let me tell you, it was an adventure.

I only wound up eating half of the plate, with one of my friends sharing the other half, and the next morning I had the aftertaste to end all aftertastes. It was truly disgusting, and realized, the hard way, that the Strawberry Nachos were not meant to be created.

These nachos were topped with strawberries (naturally) and whipped cream, and if you’re reading this thinking that corn tortilla chips and strawberries simply don’t go together, then, my friend, you would be right.

They don’t belong together.

Truthfully, I never got the whole Late Night Menu Denny’s was putting out. It was during a time when other restaurants were doing late night menus, primarily to cut down on the amount of food that they cook at night. Denny’s version was just weird, and the Strawberry Nachos sent the weirdness level to Defcon seven.

Fortunately for all of our taste buds, Denny’s came to their senses and realized that the Strawberry Nachos were, in fact, a bad idea, and yanked the monstrosity off of their menu. The whole Late Night Menu was scrapped soon after, and now, many Denny’s loyalists can enjoy their regular menu, sans the Strawberry Nachos.
