When it came to chicken, KFC used to be the king. Now, other fast-food chains are picking up the mantle.
If you look at some of the most popular chicken restaurants, the front-runner is easily Chick-Fil-A while KFC doesn’t seem to get nearly as much love as it used to. That’s not to say the company isn’t trying.
Recently, the fast-food chain introduced a new offer on its app and for online ordering which is $10 for an 8-piece chicken. Honestly, that’s a pretty great deal and with the introduction of the new snack wraps, it’s clear KFC is trying to get people in the door.
Regardless of how you feel about KFC though, it’s clear the restaurant isn’t a first choice for anyone anymore but why is that?
Why did KFC slowly start becoming a last resort for fast-food eaters?
As with most of these things, there is no one simple answer. However, there are a few ideas why the chain doesn’t seem to do as well as it has in the past. I’m sure some of us can agree that the quality now is nothing in comparison to when KFC was a go-to stop when you’re looking for fried chicken.
Sometimes, you can let go of the lack of quality of the service is great but the chicken joint’s drive-thrus take so long. By the time you get your food, you’re frankly more than irritated and that completely ruins your appetite. Additionally, there are been complaints about KFC, not being on the up-and-up when it comes to cleaning which is a massive no-no for a restaurant of any kind.
Another reason some of us also don’t enjoy going there is the lack of options. KFC has had some great menu items in the past, but now it seems like everything we enjoy is taken away. While they have tried some ideas or different items, the changes to the menu can leave you feeling a bit underwhelmed by their selection.
Additionally, the chain has been overwhelmed by its competition with places like Chick-Fil-A and Popeyes rising in its place. Most notably, KFC doesn’t really fit into anyone’s idea of a healthy diet and sometimes, that can win out. Frankly, the last time I was at KFC, the drive-thru wait was entirely too long which ruined the entire experience for me.
Regardless, the chain might be on its last legs so if you’re looking to enjoy those 11 herbs and spices, then I think you’d better get on it. Maybe the chain will surprise us as the snack wraps are really getting people excited which is unsurprising. No matter how you feel about the restaurant in general, it’s clear the fast-food chicken chain isn’t as beloved as it used to be.
