We heard the news that Matt Lucas was leaving Great British Baking Show in Dec 2022 and since then, we’ve been waiting to hear the announcement on who was going to be the new co-host next to Noel Fielding. Well, the wait is finally over. The baking competition show just announced that they have made the decision on who is going to be their new co-host.
ITV’s Alison Hammond will be joining Noel, Paul Hollywood, and Prue Leith on the next season of the Great British Baking Show. She hosts ITV’s This Morning and was a contender on the 2020 celebrity version of the baking series. She has also been on Strictly Come Dancing, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, and I Can See Your Voice.
She announced the news on Twitter on Friday, March 17, 2023 after it was leaked by The Daily Mirror:
It will be interesting to see how she meshes with Noel and how she interacts with the new set of bakers. Since we don’t really yet know her in the US, it will be fun to see her personality.
Great British Baking Show adds Alison Hammond as new co-host
And considering the call for auditions only ended in Dec 2022, we likely won’t get the new season until later this year. That means, unfortunately, we’ll have to have a little bit of patience. But I’m sure Alison Hammond will be worth that wait.
Considering last year, the show didn’t start airing until September, the series probably won’t start airing in the UK or streaming in the US until at least then. Luckily, there are still plenty of seasons to rewatch and enjoy on both Netflix and Roku.
