The Kraken Rum launches new Gold Spiced Rum

Founded in 2010, The Kraken Rum has quickly become one of the leaders in the rum category of the adult spirits business. Their Black Spiced Rum has long been an industry leader and last year they rolled out a line of canned ready-to-drink cocktails to much success.

Now they have revealed a new drink that they promise will have you deciding to make a certain captain walk the plank as you release the Kraken. (C’mon. You knew that joke was coming at some point, right?)

Their new product is a Caribbean spiced rum that they are calling The Kraken Gold Spiced Rum and they say it’s smooth and rich and will set a new gold standard for what you expect in your rum.

The Kraken Rum new Gold Spiced Rum is available nationwide for you to enjoy.

According to their press release, The Kraken Gold Spiced Rum has a scent that is a mixture of oak, caramel, banana bread and rich vanilla with light cinnamon aftertaste. The flavor is a combination of “molasses and dark spice fading into caramelized sugar with a slight finish of toasted oak and vanilla.”

Now I know what you’re thinking. That all sounds well and good in a press release but what does it really taste like? Well, the fine folks at The Kraken Rum were kind enough to send us a sample to try and we can tell you it’s exactly as they describe.

The Kraken Gold Spiced Rum is incredibly smooth with deep flavors and just the right amount of kick. It drinks fine whether you enjoy it on ice by itself or with some refreshing Coke. Honestly it tasted great no matter what I mixed it with.

And according to Lander Otegui, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Proximo Spirits, this is exactly what The Kraken Rum was going for.

The Kraken Gold Spiced Rum is 35% ABV and will run you $21.99 per 750ml. It is also available in 1L and 1.75L bottles and is now available where ever you buy your spirits.
