6. McDouble

Yep, I can hear the moaning and groaning now. Why in the world would I rank the McDouble above the Quarter Pounder with Cheese?

I can feel the anger, but let me explain.

As I’ve mentioned earlier, the McDouble is the low-rent cousin of the Double Cheeseburger. Before its invention, the Double Cheeseburger was considered a value product on McDonald’s vast menu landscape. However, the folks in McDonald’s test kitchen was looking for something cheaper to take its place.

Behold, the McDouble, which contained one less slice of cheese than the Double Cheeseburger. Seriously, that was the only thing that physically separated the McDouble from the Double Cheeseburger, which has led to many questioning why McDonald’s would create this burger in the first place.

For a while, I did, too, until I came across the fact that the McDouble is a burger that fills you up better than its cousin. Also, surprisingly, it’s “healthier” (and trust me, I say that in the loosest terms possible) than the Double Cheeseburger. So, you can brag that you’re actually eating healthy while still not really eating healthy.

Now, do you see why the McDouble belongs in this spot? It has earned it, trust me.
