2. Classic Chicken Sandwich

We’re nearing the end, and for second place, we turn our attention to one of McDonald’s premium chicken sandwiches.

When it was originally released, it was billed as the Southern Chicken Sandwich, due to its home-fried texture and simple fixings. The Southern Chicken Sandwich would morph into the Classic Chicken Sandwich, and even though the name has changed, the taste has not, and thank God for that.

Sure, you will be shelling out more money for the Classic Chicken Sandwich than you would for a McChicken, but if you have the money to spend, you really can’t go wrong with the Classic Chicken Sandwich. There is one notable difference between the Classic Chicken Sandwich and its predecessor, and it’s the fact that this version is topped with a tangy Signature Sauce.

I was nervous at first about the sauce when I first tried the Classic Chicken Sandwich, wondering how the tangy sauce would mesh with the chicken. My worries turned to delight as I became pleasantly surprised by the sauce, It truly meshed well with the chicken, and while I am not putting it above Chick-fil-A’s chicken sandwich (which is on another plane altogether), McDonald’s Classic Chicken Sandwich can be right there in its league, and it’s certainly one of the best menu items on the menu.
