If you live near or even close to Hershey, Pennsylvania, I’m sure you’ve visited Hershey’s Chocolate World. However, things are getting much sweeter at the Hershey location with the addition of Hershey’s Great Candy Expedition.

I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to believe that Hershey’s Chocolate World is turning 50 years old. I’ve been to HCW multiple times in my life and have always enjoyed my time there. That’s why it’s so crazy to think the attraction has existed for that long.

While there have been some revamps within the last few decades, I will say that each change has made the experience that much better. That’s why I’m so excited to talk about the latest addition to Hershey’s Chocolate World lineup with Hershey’s Great Candy Expedition.

If you’re planning a trip this spring or summer, there is no way you can leave this new attraction off your list of things to do in Hershey.

Chocolate World adds a new attraction: Hershey’s Great Candy Expedition.

Before you get too excited, Hershey’s Great Candy Expedition doesn’t open up until May 19th, 2023. It’s not just a one-size-fits-all attraction though as there are a few different elements to Hershey’s Great Candy Expedition which are the Hershey’s Chocolate World Train Station, Sweets Expedition Co. Platform 73, and the Hersheyland Express.

If you couldn’t tell, this is a train-themed attraction beginning at the train station where you can get a taste of some Reese’s straight from the factory and learn more about Milton Hershey’s journey to creating such a beloved brand. Moving onto the platform, there will be all those train-centric sights and sounds that might accompany you if you were traveling by train to the Hersheyland Express.

Rounding it out is the Hersheyland Express which features projections to give you a tour through some of Hershey’s most iconic products and brands we’ve come to know and love. You can also enjoy the sights and smells which is the best of both worlds. You can even meet some new characters featured within the attraction such as the Sweets Co engineer, Ginny, Judy of Jolly Rancher Junction, and Fritz of Twizzlers Forest.

I don’t want to give away too much to not spoil the attraction for you but it sounds like an absolute height. Coupled with attractions such as the “Create Your Own Candy Bar” or “Hershey Trolley Works,” it will undoubtedly make for an enjoyable day.

Even if you’re only able to go on the Hershey’s Chocolate Tour ride, that’s still worth experiencing if you’ve never been to Hershey’s Chocolate World before. However, I am incredibly excited to get a chance to ride Hershey’s Great Candy Expedition as it seems like a lot of fun and definitely a family-friendly option.

If I can give a recommendation though, I’d highly recommend making sure you eat at Hershey’s Chocolate World. Whether you’re craving something sweet such as a milkshake, your very own more, or something savory like mac n cheese, I’ve tried and enjoyed everything I’ve ever eaten at Hershey’s Chocolate World. Plus the number of souvenirs and items you’ll want to pick up, that’s just unreal.

Whether you’re heading to check out on your first trip or going to experience Hershey’s Great Candy Expedition, I’d love to know what you think.
