North Carolina: Bojangles
Chicken is in North Carolina’s DNA, and if they want great chicken fast and cheap, they don’t do any KFC or Church’s Chicken. They instead turn to Bojangles, which has a legend in the Tar Heel State that few fast food chains can match.
Born in Charlotte in 1977, Bojangles now has 600 locations around the world, but their largest restaurant count is in their home state, and it seems that everyone has their “favorite Bojangles” where the chicken is spiced to perfection and the biscuit is fluffy and buttery.
Sure, North Carolina has a plethora of homegrown chicken restaurants. This is the South, where the chicken is seasoned and fried to golden perfection, but from a chain perspective, Bojangles is a perfect representation of southern chicken, in a good way.
When it comes to chicken in North Carolina, it’s always ‘Bo Time!
