11. Five Guys

Claim to fame: Burgers and good fries

The Reason:

Yeah, you have read that correctly. Five Guys, the esteemed burger chain, is not even in the Top 10.

Shocking, I know, but there are reasons why it has its nose pressed against the glass looking at the Top 10. There has been some slippage with sales as of late, and Five Guys has decided to do the once unthinkable and close locations.

The food quality is still great, and it can still go toe-to-toe with Micky D’s in the fries department, but the slumping sales and closing stores have me a bit concerned about Five Guys. Hopefully, this trend will not continue and Five Guys can get itself off the mat, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

If it didn’t have those operational problems, Five Guys would easily be in the Top 10, but for this year, it has to sit outside the Top 10. Hopefully, it doesn’t slip further. I’m rooting for you guys.

Best menu item: Fries

The burgers are great, but those fries are to die for. It’s almost like food crack, as in once you take one bit, you won’t get enough. They also have it in Cajun style, which I seriously recommend.

Worst menu item: Kosher Style Hot Dog

When I say the Kosher Style Hot Dog is the worst menu item here, I don’t mean that it tastes bad (unless I say it tastes bad), but Five Guys made its name off of burgers and fries, and that’s what you should stick with. And, besides, the hot dogs here are a little underwhelming.
