The fourth week of Crime Scene Kitchen Season 2 has just come to a close, and this one definitely had some more complex and intense desserts to recreate. I personally didn’t really know what either of them were and I’m sure that many people watching felt the exact same way.

It’s always fun to look back on episodes of shows like this because it’s fun to see what you thought of something as it was happening and watching along with it. There is certainly no other show like it: it’s got elements of being a detective and delicious desserts. So with all of that being said, let’s dive right into the thick of it all!

If you enjoy Crime Scene Kitchen, then be sure to tune in each week, starting at 7 pm CST, where we will see some mysterious treats being made by some of America’s best bakers!

Are you ready? Let’s go!

Crime Scene Kitchen combines mystery and baking! Let’s see what’s in store!

In case you missed week or season one, here’s the premise of the show: each week there are two challenges. In both challenges, before the baking actually begins, each team has a chance to ‘investigate’ the kitchen. There are dirty dishes, used utensils, things in the fridge, and definitely some things to fool you (quite a few this week) and throw you off guard just a bit.

Since we are switching off between the self-taught bakers and the professional-trained bakers, last week we saw the self-taughters, so that means this week, we are back with the pros.

In the fourth episode of Crime Scene Kitchen, the Safety Bake had the following clues:

  • All-purpose flour
  • Confectioners sugar
  • Tart pan in the dishwasher
  • 3 eggs
  • Almond flour
  • Mixed berries on the counter and in the fridge
  • Other various fruits on the counter
  • Bowl of some sort of batter (crepe or pancake?)
  • Spilled vanilla & granulated sugar on the counter
  • Cherry stain and seed bowl
  • Raspberry stain on the apron (and remnants of some raspberry seeds as well)
  • Apples

Stop! Before you read ahead, what do you think this mystery dessert could be?

Here’s what each team made, based off of the clues that each team saw in the Crime Scene Kitchen:

  • Bob & Vikki: Apple & Cherry Galette
  • Amber & Yass: Cherry Clafoutis
  • Ricky & DJ: Raspberry Pancake Tart
  • Sally & Sherry: Bakewell Tart
  • Laissa & Camille: Mixed Berry Clafoutis

MYSTERY DESSERT: Raspberry Clafoutis

WINNING TEAM: Amber & Yass

The second challenge in Crime Scene Kitchen is called the Elimination Bake. Whoever comes in last place this round will unfortunately be eliminated and go home.

In the Elimination Bake, here were the following clues:

  • Almond & all-purpose flour
  • Sugar
  • Tart pan
  • Rolling pin w/ dough remnants on it
  • Orange
  • Note: “make something seasonal”
  • Date in the kitchen read July 6th (Summer)
  • Plum
  • Some sort of glaze remnants on a spoon in the bowl (orange? apricot?)
  • 3 eggs
  • Pears
  • Rhubarb
  • Off-set  spatula w/ some sort of almond cream remnants on it
  • Seasonal fruits poster on the fridge door

Stop! Before you read ahead, what do you think this mystery dessert could be?

Here’s what each team made, based off of the clues that each team saw in the Crime Scene Kitchen:

  • Amber & Yass: SAFE
  • Sally & Sherry: Plum Frangipane Tart with Apricot Glaze
  • Ricky & DJ: Plum Frangipane Tart with Apricot Glaze
  • Laissa & Camille: Plum Frangipane Tart with Apricot Glaze
  • Bob & Vikki: Plum Frangipane Tart with Orange Glaze

MYSTERY DESSERT: Plum Frangipane Tart with Apricot Glaze

ELIMINATED TEAM: Bob & Vikki

What are your thoughts on episode four of Crime Scene Kitchen, Season 2? Also: have you ever heard of a Clafoutis or a Frangipane Tart? If so, which one’s your favorite?  And what’s your favorite type of fruit(s) to add into a tart and why? Do you have a favorite seasonal fruit, much like the professional bakers used this week?
