Crime Scene Kitchen Season 2, Episode 5 Review: Follow the Clues
Episode 5 of Crime Scene Kitchen Season 2 just came to a close. This week, we had special guest judge and taster, Nene Leakes joining the usual lineup and panel! As far as the safety and elimination bakes go, one of them included a very unique CSK first: something savory!
It’s always fun to look back on episodes of shows like this because it’s fun to see what you thought of something as it was happening and watching along with it. There is certainly no other show like it: it’s got elements of being a detective and delicious desserts.
So with all of that being said, let’s dive right into the thick of it all!
If you enjoy Crime Scene Kitchen, then be sure to tune in each week, starting at 7 pm CST, where we will see some mysterious treats being made by some of America’s best bakers!
Are you ready? Let’s go!
Crime Scene Kitchen combines mystery and baking! Let’s see what’s in store!
In case you missed week or season one, here’s the premise of the show: each week there are two challenges. In both challenges, before the baking actually begins, each team has a chance to ‘investigate’ the kitchen. There are dirty dishes, used utensils, things in the fridge, and definitely some things to fool you (quite a few this week) and throw you off guard just a bit.
Since we are switching off between the self-taught bakers and the professional-trained bakers, last week we saw the pros, so that means this week, we are back with the self-taughters!
In the fifth episode of Crime Scene Kitchen, the Safety Bake had the following clues:
- Used pie dish
- All-purpose flour
- Rolling pin on the counter
- Peeled apples and pears
- ‘Mystery’ fruit cores in the trash can
- Used mixing bowl
- Mozzarella cheese in the fridge
- Sliced up bacon in the fridge
- Lunch box in the fridge packed with some sort of a bacon sandwich and sliced apples
- Eggs
- Open sea salt container
- Gruyère cheese
- Tomato and basil remnants on a cutting board
- Chilled, cubed up butter in a bowl
Stop! Before you read ahead, what do you think this mystery BAKE could be?

What are your thoughts on episode five of Crime Scene Kitchen, Season 2? Also: what is your personal favorite sort of citrus to use when making a curd? This week both vanilla and lemon cake flavors were used in the Elimination Bake’s Mystery Dessert round, which brings me to my next and final question: what’s YOUR personal cake flavor? Mine’s white/vanilla! Anyone else out there?!
