Instacart reveals the most popular ice cream flavors based on what people are ordering

On July 16, we are all celebrating National Ice Cream Day. And what better way to celebrate than with Instacart revealing the most popular flavors in the U.S.?

We love finding out what people are enjoying when it comes to ice cream flavors. Sometimes it inspires us to try something new and sometimes it reminds us of flavors that we have loved in the past, but maybe haven’t had in a while.

Considering July, and even August, are the perfect months to enjoy an icy cold treat, it makes sense that people are ordering 22 percent more ice cream in the summer. And thanks to Instacart, we know exactly what flavors people are ordering to get delivered to their door.

Perhaps a bit unsurprisingly, vanilla is the most popular flavor in the US, according to the Instacart blog. But what are the other most popular ice cream flavors?

First, we have to point out that 21 states prefer the vanilla flavor, which feels like a bit of a runaway favorite. Then we have chocolate, which is preferred in 15 states. These are definitely the most popular flavors in the country, and we are not surprised at all. So what are the favorite flavors in the other 14 states?

Four states are fans of mint chocolate chip, while another four states are all about the coffee ice cream. Rocky road is a favorite in three of the states, while Moose Tracks is a favorite in another three. And while not a state, our nation’s capital (Washington D.C.) is all about the strawberry!

Honestly, we were more surprised by the fact that strawberry was basically left off the map over which two flavors were the most popular by far.
