The Great American Recipe is in its sixth week of Season 2, and it’s time for the iconic recipe swap episode and we are here for it!

For this episode of The Great American Recipe, they start off right away with the recipe swap. First the cooks had to grab their recipe card and then they passed it to the person standing next to them. The cooks now have to take those recipes and create those dishes, while also adding their personality to them.

So what recipes did the cooks get from their fellow competitors?

The Great American Recipe gives us the classic recipe swap in episode 6

  • Relle – Ted’s Scallops with Parmesan Risotto
  • Abbe – Relle’s Hawaiian Style Loco Moco
  • Khela – Abbe’s Ziti Al Fresco
  • Salmah – Khela’s Meaty Beef and Bean Chili
  • Brad – Salmah’s Cheese Scones
  • Leanna – Brad’s Mazamas
  • Maria – Leanna’s Drumstick with Honey Soy Balsamic Glaze
  • Ted – Maria’s Hominy Red Chile Stew

Honestly, all of these recipes sound amazing and it was exciting to see these cooks collaborating with each other to make the dishes come to life.

After some solid judging, with the judges offering some great critiques and praise, it is time to learn who did the best with the recipe swap challenge. The cooks who made the best recipe swap dishes were Salmah and Khela.

For the second round of The Great American Recipe‘s sixth week, the cooks had to make a “treasured family recipe” in 90 minutes.

  • Salmah – Mithai (A sweet treat like a fudge)
  • Leanna – Cou-Cou with Steamed Snapper
  • Relle – Sweet ‘N’ Sour Spare Ribs and Purple Sweet Potatoes
  • Ted – Dolmades with Egg-Lemon Sauce
  • Brad – T’Becha (A Libyan short rib stew)
  • Khela – Chicken and Dumplings
  • Maria – Corned Beef and Cabbage Sandwich with Slaw and Mashed Potatoes
  • Abbe – Ilse’s Mocha Nut Cake

Once again, the judges had a lot of positive feedback and comments for the cooks after trying all of these family recipes with so much history to them.

It’s hard to decide who had the least successful dishes considering these are treasured family recipes. But according to the judges, the two cooks who were perhaps less successful this time around were Maria and Abbe.

And of course, we have to talk about who made the best dishes. The best dishes came from Khela and Salmah.

Ultimately, the cook who came out on top for this challenge was Salmah! (And this is a recipe we can’t wait to try for ourselves.)
