MasterChef celebrates 250 episodes with the “United Cakes of America” challenge

MasterChef is celebrating 250 episodes during the United Tastes of America season, so it is only fitting that they do a “United Cakes of America” challenge.

For this MasterChef episode, each chef will have to replicate one of the iconic cakes represented as part of this celebration. There is a nine layer cake and some easy ones. And the winner of the immunity pin from last week is getting to choose which baker is baking each of the cakes.

So what did Kennedy choose for everyone?

• MD – Key Lime Pie
• Lizzie – Marionberry Cake
• James – Ooey Gooey Butter Cake
• Wayne – 9-Layer Cake
• Kyle – Meyer Lemon Cake
• Brynn – Red Velvet Cake
• Jennifer – Banana Split Cake
• Nina – German Chocolate Cake
• Kolby – Apple Stack Cake
• Kendal – Boston Creme Pie
• Reagan – ? (This cake looked good from the brief glance we saw.)
• Charles – ?
• Sav – ? (Her cake looked lovely, but what was it?)
• Grant – ?

This was a difficult challenge for many of these chefs, as many of them are not bakers or have never baked the desserts chosen for them. And unfortunately, it was impossible to tell what every chef baked since there were some people who really never got the chance to be on camera. You could see them getting their bake on, but that didn’t really help us in determining what everyone got.

After a stressful 90 minute bake, who ended up getting called up as the best of the MasterChef bunch?

The bakers called up were:

• Brynn – Northeast
• Kolby – South
• Wayne – Midwest
• Lizzie – West

So which chef pulled off the win and earned themselves the immunity pin? The winner of this challenge was Kolby!

Of course, there are still three bakers that need to face judging for being at the bottom of their regions. So which bakers are at the bottom?

• Nina – Northeast
• Kyle – Midwest
• MD – West

So which chef was ultimately eliminated from the MasterChef competition? Unfortunately, the person going home after this challenge was Kyle!
