MasterChef takes on the iconic Kitchen takeover at Hell’s Kitchen
It’s time for the iconic kitchen, takeover episode of MasterChef! And this time around, our chefs will be taking over one of Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen restaurants.
The stakes are extremely high this episode, as the winning team will immediately advance to the semi finals! And of course, on the losing team, someone will be going home.
As always, the MasterChef cooks will be broken up into two teams with three cooks on each team. And the teams have already been determined by the judges, with the captain of each team, being the winning pair from last episode. This means that our two remaining men are actually going to be the team captains.
Grant will be the captain of the red team, while Wayne will be the captain of the blue team. Jennifer and Sav are on the red team with Grant, which means the blue team will include Kennedy and Reagan.
MasterChef takes over Gordon Ramsay’s own Hell’s Kitchen restaurant
The MasterChef cooks will have to actually make dishes from the chef’s menu, which includes:
- Appetizer: Pan Seared Scallops with Celery Root Purée and Braised Celery Root & Bacon Fricassee
- Appetizer: Lobster Risotto with Butter Poached Lobster, Truffle Risotto and Crispy Onions
- Entree: Filet Mignon with Parsnip Purée, Roasted Tomatoes and Béarnaise Sauce
- Entree: Crispy Skin Salmon with White Beans & Chorizo, Sea Bean Salad and Citrus Beurre Blanc
In order to learn the dishes, Chef Ramsay demonstrated all four dishes for the cooks. And then quickly, the restaurant was filled and dinner service was underway.
Unfortunately, things start off rocky in the red team with Jennifer burning the very first risotto. And Wayne looks to be micromanaging on the blue team.
It’s a bit of a mess on both sides, as the red team is struggling to get dishes together properly. And the blue team had dishes dying in the window as they tried to get their timing down.
Honestly, both teams completely struggled with this challenge, before even getting to the entree. On the blue team, Reagan wanted to serve leftover risotto to a second table, and the red team struggled to get their lobster cooked.
Once the teams hit the entrees, it felt like the cooks got into a better rhythm and were more confident. However, the blue team had a dish come back for an undercooked filet, while the red team almost sent out undercooked salmon.
While Gordon Ramsay did not have to shut down either kitchen, it is clear that he is not happy with what went down in Hell’s Kitchen. And it makes sense. There were dishes that were sent back in both kitchens. There were undercooked proteins coming out of the kitchen. This was not a good challenge for either team.
In the end, it was the blue team that won the day. And that meant all three of the cooks on the blue team are in the semi finals.
Sadly, the person going home from the red team was Sav.
