The Halloween Cookie Challenge is back! And joining Rosanna Pansino for the second season is legendary baker, Duff Goldman!

And to kick things off on the second season of the Halloween Cookie Challenge, our bakers are starting off with the decorating challenge where they will make “day after Halloween cookies.” For this challenge the cookie makers are doing two different designs and two cookies with those different designs. They only have to create one dough, however.

This is a 90 minute challenge, and someone actually gets eliminated after the first round. This means that only three bakers make it into the display round.

So who are the cookie artists competing in this premiere episode?

Halloween Cookie Challenge is back for a second season of spookiness

First, we have Alex who describes himself as a drag queen cookie artist. He is making a spiced cookie dough. His first design is described as being Frankenstein’s pedicure. (And we can’t wait to see this.) Design two is a witch taking a bubble bath in her cauldron.

Our second baker is Naomi, who is making apple pie cookies. Her designs are Frankenstein getting a facial and a young Dracula going for a swim!

Next we have baker number three, Gabriella. She is making a Pfeffernusse cookie. Her designs will be a zombie in a hot tub and a werewolf in bed.

Finally we have Aisling (one of the Massachusetts bakers we were excited for!) who is making an Irish Cream dough for her cookies. Her designs for her cookies will be a skeleton in a hammock on the beach, and the second is the Bride of Frankenstein enjoying a self care day.

All the bakers did an amazing job with their cookies and designs, although there are a few things the judges are picking up on in terms of small flaws. This means we have no clue who might be going home.

Ultimately, the first cookie maker leaving the Halloween Cookie Challenge is Naomi.

For the second challenge, the display challenge, our bakers need to make an “ancient cookie coffin.” They need to make removable lids for these coffins and be 10 inches long. They have to be fully decorated and feature two different flavors of cookie doughs.  They must also add a dried fruit to their cookie!

Gabriela is making an orange pecan cinnamon roll cookie dough and a cherry almond cookie. The dried fruit she grabbed was cherries, which is what inspired her second cookie flavor. She is making her coffin for a witch.

Alex is making a vanilla sugar cookie dough and a chocolate dates cookie, since his dried fruit was the dates. And his theme for his cookie display is werewolf coffin!

Finally we have Aisling who is making an apple spice dough (she got the dried apples) and a toasted coconut cookie! Her coffin is for a vampire.

And just as the challenge ends, Alex’s coffin suffers a fatal flaw as the coffin top breaks after time is called. However, his cookie design is still pretty great, although we really loved the look of Gabriella’s coffin design. But Alex wasn’t the only one with a failure, as Aisling saw her coffin top break as well.

In the end, there can be only one winner. So who won the Season 2 premiere episode of Halloween Cookie Challenge? Ultimately, the winner was Gabriella!
