For the first challenge of episode two of the Halloween Cookie Challenge, the four bakers have to do a decorating challenge where they will make a “half-face makeup” cookie. The bakers have to create two identical cookie self portraits. However, one cookie will be ghoulish, while the other will be normal.

For this first challenge, both cookies need to come together to create a perfect face. And, the bakers only need to make one dough for these two cookies. This is truly all about the design work.

So let’s meet the bakers. First off we have Jessica Black who is baking a Miso Brown Butter cookie. Next is Jas Deoja, who is making a Cardamom Orange Pistachio dough. Our third baker is Nolan Schooley, who is making a pumpkin spice cookie dough. Finally, we have Loren Stanard, who is baking a Raspberry Pretzel Chocolate Chip cookie.

Halloween Cookie Challenge gives us a quirky decorating challenge before going full on zombie displays

While it looks like the baking goes well, Nolan is a bit behind the other bakers when it comes to the decorating portion of the challenge. However, by the end of the first Halloween Cookie Challenge round of the episode, everyone seems to have gotten their cookies done and delivered some great designs.

Sadly, one cookie baker has to go home at the end of this first challenge. So which baker gets eliminated after the half-face makeup challenge? Unfortunately, the person who went home after round one of the Halloween Cookie Challenge was Nolan.

Heading into the second round, the display challenge, it is all about doing a life-like zombie body part cookie display. They must make two different cookie doughs, it must be 3D, and it has to be at least six inches tall on display! The bakers also have to include a special oozing ingredient.

For Jas’ cookie doughs she is making an Ube Coconut Strawberry cookie and Lychee Raspberry cookie, with the raspberry jam being her oozing ingredient. She is making a zombie foot for her body part.

At Loren’s station, she is making a lemon blueberry sugar cookie and a chocolate orange cookie, with her oozing ingredient being the orange marmalade. For her body part, she is also doing a zombie foot.

Finally we have Jessica who is making a cranberry white chocolate and clove cookie (her oozing ingredient is cranberry jam) and a fig and balsamic sugar cookie. Her body part is hands!

After a hard fought baking battle, it’s a race to the finish to complete their zombie body part displays. And yet, all three bakers were able to deliver some amazing zombie body parts.

Honestly, all three of our bakers got some amazing comments from the judges. It really feels like it’s going to be so hard for them to choose a winner. But there is $10,000 on the line and somebody has to win.

Ultimately, the baker who ends up winning the second episode of the Halloween Cookie Challenge for season two is Loren!
