Popeyes introducing new TRUFF Chicken Sandwiches
By D. Goodman
It seems like a lifetime ago since Popeyes first introduced their very own chicken sandwich and ignited the long, bitter conflict known as the Great Chicken Sandwich Wars. There were casualties on all sides (Ch’King we hardly knew thee) but Popeyes and their chicken sandwich was a clear winner.
Now that the smoke has settled, Popeyes has begun experimenting with different versions of their Chicken Sandwich, mixing and matching toppings and flavors. It’s hardly shocking considering how popular the sandwich is.
And that also means bringing in collaborators to work with to give the Popeyes Chicken Sandwich a whole new flavor profile. Which is exactly what Popeyes and hot sauce maker TRUFF is doing by testing a new line of chicken sandwiches.
The Popeyes collaboration with TRUFF is only available in a couple of states.
The new line up includes a whopping eight different versions of the iconic Popeyes Chicken Sandwich and they all include TRUFF’s Spicy Mayo. The mayo includes red jalapenos and black winter truffles which combine to give the condiment a nice heat and umami flavor.
As for the sandwiches themselves, they include:
Crispy TRUFF Chicken Sandwich
Blackened TRUFF Chicken Sandwich
Crispy TRUFF Cheese Chicken Sandwich
Crispy TRUFF Bacon Chicken Sandwich
Crispy TRUFF Bacon & Cheese Chicken Sandwich
Blackened TRUFF Cheese Chicken Sandwich
Blackened TRUFF Bacon Chicken Sandwich
Blackened TRUFF Bacon & Cheese Chicken Sandwich
Additionally an individual side of TRUFF’s Spicy Mayo is also available for any order so that you can try it along with any item on the Popeyes menu.
Currently the line of TRUFF Chicken Sandwiches is only available in Connecticut and North Carolina. But there is every indication that they will be going nationwide if there is even the smallest indication that these new items are a hit with customers.
