It was just three months ago that here at Guilty Eats HQ we were reporting that Burger King was testing a new side order concept. At the time they were called Fries n’ Rings and they combined the fast food giant’s two most popular sides.

The test took place in Florida and was an idea that was so obvious that Burger King should have done it a long time ago. Offer a side that included both french fries and onion rings in the same menu item. Genius!

As all fast food fans know, McDonald’s doesn’t sell onion rings and thanks to that, it gives the Home of the Whopper a unique opportunity. And it must have proven popular in the test run because word has come out that the new item is going nationwide later in October with a new name.

Burger King will start offering Have-sies starting October 12 nationwide.

Burger King is now calling the item Have-sies but the idea is still exactly the same. Offer a side that combines both their tasty french fries and their iconic onion rings. It will be available in three different sizes and offers even more options when building a Combo Meal.

Now, it must be said that the new name could really use some work. Fries n’ Rings was the perfect name that described exactly what you were getting when you ordered. Have-sies, while maybe a bit catchier, just doesn’t roll off the tongue like Fries n’ Rings.

Maybe Burger King will come to their sense later. As long as it doesn’t affect the availability of Have-sies, fans shouldn’t really care. Because this is an idea that is long overdue and I can’t wait to get some and not have to order two separate sides at the drive-thru.
