Fox renews MasterChef Junior for Season 9

Other than Hell’s Kitchen, the culinary competition most fans think of when they think of Gordon Ramsay is MasterChef. The series features home cooks doing battle to see who can impress the judges and come away with the cash prize and the MasterChef trophy.

Soon after the series became a solid ratings hit for Fox, they decided to create a spinoff, just with home cooks that were a bit shorter. MasterChef Junior arrived in 2013 and saw kids between the ages of eight and thirteen compete to see who can be named the best of the best.

Again, the series was a hit and Season 8 wrapped in June of 2022 with Liya Chu from Scarsdale, New York walking away with the trophy and bragging rights in the school cafeteria.

And now, after a longer then usual wait Fox has officially announced that MasterChef Junior will be back for Season 9.

MasterChef Junior returns with a new judge that many fans should recognize.

The news comes via Deadline and and while there is no word on when the series will premiere, there was a bit of news as far as who will be the judges this time around.

For the past few seasons the series has featured three judges. One is always Gordon Ramsay who has been on every season of MasterChef Junior. The other two slots have rotated between a couple of well known faces to the franchise with Season 8 featuring Aarón Sánchez and Daphne Oz.

For Season 9 they are trying something new and adding a fourth judge and it is someone fans of Hell’s Kitchen and this series should know well. Tilly Ramsay will be joining her father on the judge’s panel for the upcoming season.

The younger Ramsay is no stranger to the series, having competed on Celebrity MasterChef Australia. Allison Wallach, President, Unscripted Programming, of Fox Entertainment seemed particularly excited about the new addition.

"“And new this season, Gordon’s talented daughter, Tilly, joins him on the judging panel, alongside the amazing Aarón Sánchez and Daphne Oz. Everyone at Fox and our terrific partners at Endemol Shine North America are delighted to welcome Tilly to the MasterChef Junior family.”"
