On episode four of Hell’s Kitchen season 22, things started with a cheer squad and a chance for chef’s on each team to choose who they wanted to go head to head against. It was a quick challenge and sadly we watched as the red team lost to the blue team in an elevated American comfort food challenge.

While we love getting a chance to see these chefs put their own spin on a dish, there is one person in this kitchen who really seems to think so highly of themselves, that it makes it hard to watch. Jason may have been on the winning team, but his dish was apparently overly salty. And yet even as Chef Ramsay is telling him what’s wrong, it is clear that he is not listening.

Hell’s Kitchen sees the first punishment pass put to use in episode 4

Ultimately, while the blue team won the challenge, a punishment pass was put into play. That meant that Jason from the blue team had to stay behind during the reward, and help the red team make bread for the dinner service. It was interesting to see the punishment pass be used so early in the season, and yet we totally appreciate it.

We can understand, not wanting to miss out on a reward, especially if the punishment is an entire day of making some thing that we are maybe not comfortable with. It was also interesting to see Jason having to interact with an entirely new kitchen. And clearly, the red team was done with him and ready to send him back to the blue team after a few hours.

Of course, it’s not just about that first challenge that gives these people a reward. It is also about the dinner service. And once again, there were issues in Hell’s Kitchen. In particular, the blue team is truly struggling. And yes, Jason is one of the chefs being yelled at by Chef Ramsay in the blue kitchen.

However, he was not the only person getting called out by Gordon Ramsay in Hell’s Kitchen. In fact, over on the red team, Sandra struggled as well and needed to have a one on one at the front of the kitchen with the chef over, not responding to people and seemingly getting flustered. But after their chat, Sandra seems to get her head sorted and gets back to cooking in a way that is strong and capable.

In the end, both teams were able to complete dinner service. For the winning team, Chef Ramsay reveals it is the red team and that the blue team must nominate their two weakest chefs.

During the blue team chat to figure out nominations, it is clear that the team cannot agree on who to put up. So who is getting nominated on the blue team for elimination?

Ultimately, the team nominates Mattias and Jason. But who is Chef Gordon Ramsay going to send home? Sadly it was Mattias going home.
