Snyder’s of Hanover introduces Pretzel Cabins for 2023
Gingerbread houses are a classic tradition for the holidays. They don’t seem to get eaten much and Snyder’s of Hanover is shifting the tides.
The brand decided to feature an alternative for gingerbread houses this year which is Snyder’s Pretzel Cabins. Rather than using gingerbread, you’ll be using Snyder’s of Hanover pretzels to craft your edible abode.
This idea comes due to a survey conducted on behalf of the brand that concluded, “…most respondents (54%) acknowledged not eating their gingerbread houses after construction.” I mean that’s pretty sad considering how much time these take to make and are usually just for display.
Due to that, I knew I had to not only feature these different options for pretzel cabins but also show some love to Snyder’s of Hanover as they were created in Pennsylvania and are a brand I’ve grown up with and always loved.

Let’s start with the Holiday Haus and you’ll need a lot to make this luxury lodge. You’ll need 2 bags of Snyder’s of Hanover Pretzel Rods, 1 bag of Snyder’s of Hanover Snaps, 1 bag of Snyder’s of Hanover Sticks along with 1 box of graham crackers, royal icing, and candy for decorating. You can see the full directions on the company’s website but let’s just say, it’s going to be a lot of work but worth all the time and energy.
The next recipe is a Tasteful A-Frame. For that, you’ll need 3 bags of pretzel rods, 1 bag of Snyder’s of Hanover Minis, 1 bag of Snaps, 1 bag of Sticks, and 1 box of Graham Crackers. That’s not all, though as you’ll also need 1 can of Pepperidge Farm Pirouettes, 1 bag of Pepperidge Farm Milano Double Dark Chocolate Cookies, 1 bag of coconut flakes, royal icing, and candy for decor. As you can see, this one features a few more ingredients and more instructions but is worth it if you’re working in a group.
Last but not least is the Frosted Chalet which brings the family-sized bags into the equation as you’ll need 3 family-sized bags of pretzel rods, 3 family-sized bags of Snyder’s of Hanover Dipping Sticks, 3 family-sized bags of sticks, 3 family-sized bags of minis and 3 family-sized bags of snaps. To finish off, you’ll need some royal icing and some candy to decorate with. From there, it’s about time, construction and just trusting the process.
Regardless if you’re working on one of these solo or among family and friends, there is no denying how awesome this idea is. Snyder’s of Hanover is breaking the mold of the holiday season and putting pretzels into the holiday conversation. Whether you assemble or not, at least you’ll have a savory snack to make the work seem more worth it.
