Today marks the day when many will head to the polls to select government officials at both the state and national levels. With that comes the stress and uncertainty of who will win and what the outlook for the country will be in the coming years. To help cope with Election Day anxiety, here are three comfort foods.

Pizza

If there's one food that will always put a smile on our faces, it's pizza. The delicious pairing of cheese, sauce, and whatever delicious toppings you seek to add will help ease the nerves that come with a day like today. Also, there are many different ways to get it, including buying one from a chain, visiting a local mom-and-pop spot, or buying a frozen one from the grocery store. In addition, you could make one yourself, but I don't know how many people have that time luxury.

Cookies

Continuing the trend of unhealthy items to cope, another food to consider is cookies. There is something about them that creates a warm feeling inside you. Whether you bake Pillsbury cookies at home or venture off to Crumbl to try the new lineup, a tasty cookie is always sure to brighten the mood.

Tomato soup and grilled cheese

When you were sick as a kid, what did your mom make you? When you needed something quick and easy that wasn't a PB&J, what did you cook up in the kitchen? Many of you likely answered tomato soup and grilled cheese to one of those, and for good reason. The duo is comforting and nostalgic, serving as a reminder that everything will be alright.

Now, go out and exercise your right to vote as a U.S. citizen. And maybe treat yourself to one of these comfort foods to ease your Election Day stress.
