Raising Cane’s is all about simplicity. Their menu says it loud and clear: chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, Texas toast, and — of course — Cane’s Sauce. That’s it. Super simple.

But close your eyes and imagine, for a moment, a world where Cane’s branched out a bit.

Now, I know it’s highly unlikely. Their whole thing is minimalism. Still, here are five items I think would be welcome additions to the menu, in case Cane’s ever decides to step out a little.

1. Milkshakes

If there's one thing that fast food frequenters love, it's the ability to get a refreshing milkshake - something I enjoy having from time to time. Now imagine for a second having the ability to dunk your chicken in some Cane's sauce and cap it off with a vanilla shake. Yeah, now you see why we want shakes on the menu.

2. Mac & Cheese

Besides waffles, mac and cheese is arguably the best sidekick for chicken. Cheesy, gooey noodles? Yes, please. It’d be a top-tier option that could help Cane’s throw its name into the fast-food mac wars. Chick-fil-A joined the game in 2019 — why not Cane’s?

3. Cajun Fries

Let’s be honest: Cane’s fries are alright. But for those of us who skip the ketchup (hi, it’s me), they’re a little bland. Why not tap into those Louisiana roots and roll out some Cajun fries? It’d spice things up and give a subtle nod to the chain’s origins.

4. Grilled Fingers

Okay, this one’s a bit of a long shot. But hear me out: grilled chicken fingers. They’d be a game-changer for the health-conscious crowd trying to feel less guilty about their chicken cravings. And no, the “naked tenders” don’t count — they’re still deep-fried, just without breading. We’re talking actually grilled.

5. Veggies

Yes, I’m suggesting vegetables at Cane’s. No, I’m not sorry. Coleslaw is fine if you like coleslaw. But it’d be nice to have at least one other veggie option — something green to help you lie to yourself about making a balanced meal.

Ultimately, do I expect to see Cane's implement any of these items in their menu? Of course not. They have a simple business model that works and keeps coming back.

However, in the unlikely chance they do, I think this list would be a good place to start for them.
