April 12 is National Grilled Cheese Day, and what better way to celebrate than with a grilled cheese? Personally, there are some cheeses that just work better than others to make a perfect grilled cheese. And Borden cheese is definitely at the top of that list.
I have to say that there is something so comforting about a perfect grilled cheese. And sometimes, that just means melted cheese between two pieces of toasted bread.
One thing that may not be universal about the perfect grilled cheese, is just how toasty the bread should be on that perfect sandwich. And Borden decided to do some research on this. In a new survey that they released on April 3, it seems that 12% of the people who responded to the survey preferred their grilled cheese to be on bread that was “well done to burnt.” (Color me shocked on this one.)
It may come as no surprise that there has definitely been some debate over how toasty the bread should be. Not only that, but there’s also debate on what the perfect cheese for grilled cheese really is.
When it comes to figuring out the perfect level of toastiness for the grilled cheese, Borden decided to offer a limited edition supply of swatch books. And those swatch books let you know exactly how toasty your grilled cheese is. But that’s not the only thing that Borden is doing to celebrate National Grilled Cheese Day, because in honor of all things cheese, they are giving away prizes throughout the month of April. And you will want to visit the giveaway website for your chance to win, because there is a lot on the line.

In fact, one grand prize winner is going to receive what is basically the “ultimate grilled cheese experience.” What does that mean? Apparently you could win “a years supply of personalized cheese selections and a gourmet Panini press to perfect their melt at home.”
Maybe it is me but Borden is definitely killing it when it comes to National Grilled Cheese Day in 2025. And now we need to check out those swatches to figure out our perfect toasty grilled cheese.
