Burger King's Addams Family Menu is creepy, kooky, and delicious
By Trey Weston
My desire to try this new release hit me as I woke up yesterday morning. I was really, really hungry, had nothing in my tummy, was craving something yummy -- I needed Burger King. If you sing that sentence as you read it, it will sound like the Addams Family theme song, which is the themed menu I tried while visiting the fast food spot.
For those unaware, Burger King recently released a lineup inspired by the spooky family. With items like churros, onion rings, a Whopper with a purple bun, and an extra chocolatey shake, I knew this was something that I had to try. Below is a breakdown of what I thought about the creations I tried.
Wednesday's Whopper
I began my journey through this specialty menu with Wednesday's Whopper, which is essentially a regular one with a purple bun. However, me being a sucker for marketing, I enjoyed the different colored bun and also that it came with Swiss cheese for a change instead of American. I ordered mine Trey's Way (cheese, ketchup, and mustard), but it technically comes with tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles, and onions.
Thing's Rings
Pairing nicely with the burger were the Things Rings, which are just the standard onion rings from Burger King. That said, as someone who doesn't typically order them, it was a nice switch from the monotony of ordering fries as my side item.
Gomez's Churro Fries
For dessert, I skipped the shake to save on calories and sugar intake for the day and elected to go for the Churro Fries instead. As a self-described churro connoisseur, I found these to be pretty tasty, especially for being from a fast food restaurant. They had a nice crunch, and the chocolate sauce that comes with it is a great enhancer.
Final Thoughts
While most of these were rebranded current items for Halloween, I found the newcomer churro fries to be the most enjoyable. I would love to see these hit the permanent menu as a dessert item, and I'm also contemplating going back to try the shake.
