In just a few days, margaritas will be celebrated once again with the annual holiday on Feb. 22. Inspired by Todd McCalla, a margarita enthusiast with a dream, the day serves as a festive reminder of the tequila-based concoction that brings smiles to many.
This year, Chili’s, a popular spot for a refreshing margarita, is celebrating with deals, merchandise, and a mini-movie that will air on Lifetime this evening.

As mentioned above, Chili’s is celebrating National Margarita Day in multiple ways this year. But perhaps the most unique is a short film airing tonight on Lifetime at 10 p.m. ET.
The film titled "I'll Be Home For National Margarita Day," follows two former love interests, Liz (Maria Menounos) and Sam (Taye Diggs), who reconnect at a local Chili’s after Liz returns to her hometown — tired of the overpriced margaritas in the big city. The pair soon find themselves teaming up when a city developer threatens to ruin the town’s National Margarita Day plans.
If you’d like to watch, you have two options: catch it tonight at 10 p.m. ET or on the actual holiday at 2 p.m. ET on Lifetime. The film will also be available for streaming on mylifetime.com, the Lifetime app, YouTube, and other platforms for a limited time starting Feb. 20.
And while an uplifting movie is great, Chili’s is also celebrating with deals on its iconic margaritas. Guests can enjoy the $5 Tequila Trifecta (available Feb. 22 only), the $6 Straw Eddy Margarita of the Month, or the Presidente Margarita, which even makes a cameo in the film.
Think that’s it? Not quite. If you’re a margarita enthusiast, you can also grab some themed merch, including the Margs Oversized Crewneck, Marg Mama Sweater, and Marg Sweet Marg Tee — the latter of which is worn by Diggs in the film.
