National Pickle Day is November 14th. The preserved cucumber is no longer relegated to a glass jar, served on the side of your burgers and fries. From fried pickles to pickle relish, the pickle is having its moment. In addition, the number of dill pickle flavored snacks and food on the market has exploded and consumers now can find dill pickle flavored cotton candy, hummus, and even beer. However, I think Grillo’s Pickles wins the contest for most unique dill pickle flavored item.
In honor of National Pickle Day, Grillo’s Pickles has collaborated with dental brand Boka, and released a Cucumber Dill Toothpaste! Yes, you read that correctly. The companies have collaborated on a dill-flavored toothpaste.
Grillo’s Pickles, founded in 2008, started as a wooden cart vendor in Boston. The company now sells their products nationwide. They sell pickles in all forms including spears, chips, and even "Pickle De Gallo" salsa.
Celebrate National Pickle Day with Grillo's Pickles and Boka's toothpaste collab!
Boka is a mindful oral care company that makes non-toxic, paraben-free and fluoride-free products. They make other unique toothpaste flavors like Orange Cream and Watermelon Mint. They have incorporated their values in their recent collaboration with Grillo’s. The toothpaste is fluoride-free with nano-hydroxyapatite to support enamel health.
Two companies, successful in their respective industries, created a surprising collaboration. The Cucumber Dill toothpaste is a limited-edition flavor, available on the Boka website. It retails for $13 for a four-ounce tube and is available in a single or two-pack.
I was able to personally sample the toothpaste in the comfort of my own home and it was nothing like I expected! I will be the first to admit I had some reservations before trying it. As much as I enjoy a dill pickle, I wasn’t sure that flavor would translate well to a toothpaste.
Of course, I first had to smell the toothpaste. It has a light, herbal scent. The toothpaste has a very mild, slightly sweet flavor that is neither offensive nor overpowering. It took some time to get used to the lack of the usual mint flavor that I’m accustomed to. This is definitely a unique and interesting toothpaste flavor! I look forward to seeing more Grillo's Pickles collaborations in the future.
