When it comes to cookbooks, there are multiple different categories a book can fall into. That's why I was so excited to pick up Half-Baked Harvest: Quick and Cozy by Tieghan Gerard.
While I've heard of Half-Baked Harvest before, I hadn't had the chance to read one of the cookbooks yet. So I was SO excited when I was gifted a copy in exchange for review. Thank you so much to Autumn Communications for reaching out so I was able to check this out and try it out before writing up my review.
Let me start by saying one thing that I adored about this cookbook. From the start, it was clear that Tieghan Gerard put a lot of heart into writing this book. She has an introduction and from there, goes into some of the ingredients you'll need for the recipes along with substitutes if you can't find something. No doubt many will appreciate that as everyone has different items available to them.
Before getting into the recipes, she also shares some quick tips to make life a little bit easier when cooking. While some might seem a little obvious, others are great timesavers and things you might not have thought about before. Some of these are tips I've come to use when cooking so I have to thank Tieghan Gerard for that.
Half-Baked Harvest: Quick and Cozy lives up to its title.
Each section of the book is broken up into different categories starting with Breakfast then Apps, Snacks & Cocktails, Soup & Salad, Pizza & Pasta, Vegetarian, Chicken & Pork, Beef, Fish & Seafood, and lastly, Dessert. Honestly, she covered a lot of ground in this cookbook and shared so many recipes I'm looking forward to trying in the future.
With the Super Bowl right around the corner, I decided to try The Brothers' Game Day Snack Mix and it was simple yet so tasty. This is basically a more elevated version of the Chex Mix we all know and love. However, the addition of the hot sauce and dried dill helped to make it even better. Frankly, I'm a huge snacker so making a bunch of this was perfect while watching the game and bringing it as a snack in my lunch.
While I haven't tried the Apple Vanilla Chai Hot Toddy yet, that one is high on my list. It seems like it's the perfect thing to beat the chilly weather this time of year. As a certified soup girl, the different soups in here look so hearty and comforting while also not taking much effort. Maybe it's just the photos in here, but everything just looks so good and makes me want to run to the store to grab all the ingredients now.
Truly, there are so many great recipes featured in Half-Baked Harvest: Quick & Cozy so if you're able to get your hands on this cookbook, do it. Of course, this would also make a great Valentine's Day gift for someone whose love language is cooking and food. That's just something to keep in mind, but I'm so happy I was able to take a look at this and try some of these recipes as they were utterly delightful.
