Pancakes. We’ve all enjoyed the classic breakfast dish at some point — whether it was your mom’s homemade version or McDonald’s hotcakes. And while both are delicious, nothing quite compares to the fluffy, iconic pancakes from IHOP.
In celebration of National Pancake Day, the popular breakfast chain is once again offering guests a free short stack (three pancakes) at locations nationwide today from 7 am to 8 pm local time. And this year, IHOP took the festivities a step further.
IHOP breaks the Guinness World Record for most pancakes served in eight hours
In honor of the day that honors one of the best things you can eat for breakfast, the chain decided to go big or go home. With this year being the 20th anniversary of the beloved holiday, IHOP decided they would attempt to break the record for the most pancakes served in an eight-hour period this past Sunday at Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles, a good spot to ensure a big turnout.
After eight hours, they took home the World Record, serving 25,629 of their iconic pancakes to 8,543 guests. And if you ask me, it's pretty flippin' cool that they could pull that off ahead of the actual holiday, which is today.
How to become a National Pancake Day expert
If you’re a pancake lover, today’s the day to take advantage of this promotion. While IHOP regularly offers great deals, you won’t find anything better than a free short stack topped with its classic old-fashioned syrup.
I also suggest getting there earlier in the day because if you go in the evening, you will see large crowds as people get off work and school. Either way, for this giveaway specifically, you can expect to see a good amount of people whenever you go.
