Every time I visit a Panda Express, it feels like there’s always something new on the menu. From the introduction of Super Greens in 2019 to the rollout of Hot Orange Chicken and Blazing Bourbon Chicken, the quick-service Chinese chain consistently offers something that piques my interest.
Most recently, I had the chance to try Panda Express’ latest option: Firecracker Steak and Shrimp.
For those unfamiliar with the newest offering, Firecracker Steak and Shrimp is a bold, spicy dish featuring wok-tossed sirloin bites and shrimp. It’s cooked with vibrant red and yellow bell peppers, onions, string beans, and whole dried peppers, delivering both flavor and heat.
As someone who makes an effort to try every new Panda Express item, I stopped by a location during a road trip and ordered the entrée as part of a bowl with fried rice. While I usually opt for a low-carb option, I felt this dish paired best with white or fried rice rather than Super Greens.
My Thoughts
One bite, and I was hooked. As a spice enthusiast, I appreciated the heat from the dried peppers. The combination of steak and shrimp complemented the fried rice well, creating a satisfying balance of textures and flavors.
One thing that I must add and strongly recommend is grabbing a refresher if you decide to order this — specifically the Pomegranate Pineapple one, which pairs very well with the Firecracker Steak and Shrimp. Plus, I feel like the drink options are underrated and easily forgotten despite being pretty tasty.

Sadly, like most of the innovative options from Panda Express over the years, it will only be available for a limited time.
