Lately, when it comes to wraps, fast food fans have had one thing on their minds: the long-awaited return of McDonald’s Snack Wrap — an item that’s been off menus since 2016. And while we’re still waiting for that day to come, Popeyes is stepping in with a new contender of its own, now available at locations nationwide.
Popeyes Chicken Wraps
Much like when Popeyes sparked the now-famous chicken sandwich war with Chick-fil-A in 2019, the chain is now setting its sights on McDonald’s. This time, the battlefield is wraps. The new offering features Popeyes’ iconic chicken tenders, along with crispy lettuce, shredded cheese, and crunchy pickles — wrapped in a tortilla inspired by the flavor of their beloved biscuits.
“With our new Chicken Wraps, we’ve taken our iconic chicken tenders and wrapped them
in something completely new, bringing all that craveable crunch in a fresh, portable way,”
said Chef Amy Alarcon, VP of Culinary Innovation at Popeyes in a press release. “We wanted to create a Chicken Wrap that was undeniably Popeyes. Infusing the flavors from our famous biscuit
into our wraps was the perfect way to ensure our signature flavors shined through.”
In addition to the new wraps, Popeyes is rolling out a beverage lineup just in time for summer. The drinks are berry-focused and include Blueberry Lemonade (chilled or frozen), Blueberry Sweet Tea, and Blueberry Unsweet Tea — perfect for beating the heat and washing down your meal.
Can they put pressure on McDonald's?
If nothing else, the timing of this launch sends a clear message: Popeyes wants the smoke with McDonald’s. And by getting their wrap out first, they might be able to generate enough buzz to win over fans before the Snack Wrap makes its official comeback.
Still, this looks like a classic rookie vs veteran matchup. On one side, we’ve got the legendary McDonald’s wraps that built a cult following. On the other, Popeyes’ fresh take — hoping to make waves the same way their chicken sandwich did.
Now, we wait until the end of summer to see who truly has it wrapped up.
