7-Eleven adds a dose of sweetness and spice just in time for summer
By Trey Weston
With the official start of summer just a few weeks away, many chains are rolling out new items to commemorate the beginning of the season. 7-Eleven is no different, and they have just announced two new treats that will be available in their locations. These two intriguing items are a Mangonada Donut and a Peach Candy Lemonade Slurpee drink.
According to a press release from the company, the Mangonada Donut, inspired by the Mexican Frozen drink of the same name, is a honeymooner donut filled with a mixture of mango and chamoy, and a sprinkling of Tajin and Sugar.
Moving over to the sweet side, a new Slurpee will join the mix. Inspired by the popular 7-Select Gummi Rings Peach Rings, the flavor blends the sweetness of the peach with the tartness of the lemon. Arriving when many will be looking for an ice-cold Slurpee to combat the heat, the latest move comes at an opportune time for the company.
"It's our favorite time of year - Slurpee drink season - and we're looking forward to bringing our customers innovative new flavors all summer long, like the new Peach Candy Lemonade flavor," said Dennis Phelps, Senior Vice President, Merchandising (Vault & Proprietary Beverages).
Those interested can visit their local 7-Eleven and find both items for a limited time. The Slurpee and Mangonada Donut will also be available for delivery via 7NOW, the popular service for receiving things from the store quickly.
As for the new items, I feel like both treats have potential. With Tajin soaring in popularity throughout the food universe, it makes sense that it was incorporated into the latest 7-Eleven food drop. I'm also a big fan of what will essentially be a Peach Icee with lemonade instead of always having to grab a Peach Milkshake from Chick-fil-A to satisfy my peach fix.
Will you be trying this new Slurpee or Donut? Does a spicy donut sound appealing to you?
