This Thursday, April 4, 2024, is National Burrito Day. Hopefully, you’ve already got plans to call your burrito and tell it you love it. But if not, have we got a deal for you: starting today, April 1, 2024, you can buy one, get one free burrito at Baja Fresh in honor of the holiday.
There are, of course, a couple of caveats… But they’re not bad ones. First, you must be signed up for a Club Baja Rewards account. The good news is that it’s a free account you can get online, and there’s no cost to you. Just sign up, and you’ll get 50 free points, a birthday surprise, and a point for every $1 you spend at Baja Fresh, which is, like, your whole salary anyway so why not rack up those points?
After you do that, order online with the code BURRITO2024, and my friend: you have got a free burrito, with the purchase of a burrito. 2 Burritos 2 Delicious, am I right? I am right, do not argue.
So where did National Burrito Day come from? As far as some research shows: no idea. Sometimes these holidays just pop up on a calendar somewhere and take on a life of their own, and it seems to be the case here (if anyone knows differently, please let us know so we can update this article).
As for the origins of burritos themselves, those also have a lot of conflicting history behind them. Some sources say they were invented in 1910 during the Mexican Revolution. Others point to 1895 when some places called what we know as tacos, burritos instead. Other sources point back to the 1500s when the Incas would roll food in a tortilla instead of folding it up, taco style.
Whatever the origin of both burritos and National Burrito Day, we know that one isn’t enough. So, thanks Baja Fresh!
