For the past several days – and for months before that – actor/writer/director/producer/Jennifer Lopez attaché Ben Affleck has been non-stop advertising for Dunkin’, the chain formerly known as Dunkin’ Donuts. So it’s a fair question to ask: does Ben Affleck own Dunkin’ Donuts?
I mean, I bet he wishes he did. The Boston native was often spotted with a cup of Dunkin’ coffee in hand (or multiple) almost more often than he’s seen out in public with his wife, J Lo. And things got even more muddled at the Super Bowl with an extended ad where Affleck and Matt Damon (among Tom Brady and others) tried to pitch a boy band called DunKings by Lopez.
So let’s get into it: does Ben Affleck own Dunkin’ Donuts?
Does Ben Affleck own Dunkin’ Donuts?
No, Ben Affleck does not own Dunkin’ Donuts. As far as I’m aware, he doesn’t even have stock or some sort of stake in the company. He just loves their coffee and donuts so much he wants to marry it, but can’t, because he’s already married to Jennifer Lopez.
So no, this isn’t a Hair Club For Men (“I”m not just the President, I’m also a client”) situation… Ben Affleck is just a big lunk of a man into baked goods and caffeinated beverages.
So who owns Dunkin’ Donuts?
Dunkin’ is owned by the Dunkin’ Brands group, which owns Dunkin’ Donuts, Mr. Donut and Baskin-Robbins. In 2020, the group was acquired by Inspire Brands, which also owns Arby’s Buffalo Wild Wings, Sonic Drive-In, and Jimmy John’s.
So who owns it? The current CEO of Inspire Brands is Paul J. Brown, who worked his way up from CEO of Arby’s to managing this whole chain empire. If Ben Affleck wishes to own Dunkin’, he must defeat Brown in one-on-one battle. Just kidding, I guess he could buy it or something, I don’t know how money works.
So, what’s the deal with the DunKings then? Does Ben Affleck really have his own drink?
Sure does, and sadly it’s not apple-flavored coffee called How Do You Like Them Apples? The new menu will drop tomorrow (February 12) at Dunkin’s nation-wide and include two items: iced coffee with cream and vanilla, topped with sweet cold foam and cinnamon sugar; and Munchkin skewers, which Matt Damon was trying to drink around in the commercial.
So while Affleck doesn’t own Dunkin’, he does “own” his own drink at the restaurant. How do you like them apples?
